Bee School
This weekend I had the chance to attend a bee school/conference through SWOBA (Southwest Ohio Beekeepers Association). This year I took the beginners beekeeping and seasonal management sessions. The seasonal management sessions were in invaluable. Next year I look forward to taking classes on pest and disease management, beekeeping chemical free, bee friendly landscapes and other such topics. Most of the time when I tell people what we are about to undertake I get the look of: Are you completely off your rocker? So it was nice to be around hundreds of other beekeepers and see the wide range of ages and types of people

I think it freakin rocks!! Will you get honey this year? If so, I would love to give it a try. (I think I solved my commenting problem, I use firefox and I found I have to "allow third party cookies" (no clue what that means but it worked!) Now I have to see if Greg will let me keep the setting. I will add you to my blog roll as soon as I figure it out!
ReplyDeletePs. I just posted a link of your blog on Healthy Tipping Point. Let me know if you get any hits!
ReplyDeleteYay I am so glad you got the commenting figured out! We don't know if we will get honey this year, most likely no. This year the bees will be busy building up the comb and getting the hive going. However you never know it depends on the bees, the weather, and what is available to them, so we will see!
