Uploading Pictures

I went to post tonight but Blogger told me that I have used up all my free space on Picasa for posting pictures.  I am wondering for those of you who also use blogger if I delete old photos off Picasa will they still be viewable on the old posts?  I do not want to pay for picture storage so I am curious if anyone out there has  a good suggestion.

  1. If you delete them from Picasa, they will no longer show on your blog. You can, however, get a free account at photobucket.com and load those into your blog posts. I would suggest resizing them to save room/get more photos for free. I size all of mine mine down to 800x600 pixels.

You might try resizing the ones you already have on Picasa. I haven't worked with that program (other than what blogger does with my photos), but if you kept the files the same names, and just made them smaller, that should free up room.

  2. You know, it seems as if there have been a bunch of my followed blogs that have had this same problem in the last week. The Conspiracy Nutjob side of me wonders if those people REALLY ran out of free space, or if they just started to tag people they think would pay for more photo space. Is there a place where they state exactly how much space you are allowed before being charged?

    1. You might be right, Carolyn. I have 991 picture heavy posts, and I didn't start making them smaller until a year or so ago. The old blogger told me how much space I had when I uploaded photos, but the new one doesn't. When we switched to the new format, I had about half of my space still left, and I had published a LOT of large pictures before that.

    2. Yeah I don't know what the user agreement was when I signed up. All I know is now they say I don't have any more space. I probably won't resize all the pictures, that feels like it would be alot of work to go back and do all of that.

  3. You could use Windows writer to write your blogs. This way pictures are never uploaded to blogger. You could also use Shutterfly and copy the photos into your blog post instead of uploading them.

    1. At the risk of looking like an idiot how would you use Windows writer and keep the same blog address?

    2. I didn't know about this either! It turns out Windows Writer is part of windows Live Essentials, and was already on my computer (I just did a search for it). I played around with it, and had a bit of trouble with the formatting, but I saved it as a draft and was able to change it just as I normally would. I also added a photo from my desktop. It might take a bit more practice, but I think it works fine!

  4. Thanks for the suggestions! It's frustrating that they get you hooked and invested in using their resources and then try to squeeze some money out.

  5. It could also be a bug with blogger. I'm keeping my eye on http://knownissues.blogspot.com/
