What do you do with 15 pounds of blueberries? You make 2 pies, 1 pint and 9 half pints of jam, and eat plenty on cereal or by the handful. In about a week we are almost out of blueberries. We won't be able to go back for a couple more weekends so hopefully the berries will still be in season.
Washed and ready to go
These blueberries are way better than any you could buy at the grocery store. They are large and plump!
Hey, I was getting ready to post my blueberry pickings too :o) Glad I don't have to be jealous.Yours are beautiful too :o) .I was told not to wash them until they were going to be used!
ReplyDeleteI guess everyone has their own methods.
They are correct in that you shouldn't wash the berries until you are ready to use them. But I knew I was going to use large quantities quickly for the pies and jam and just decided to wash them all at once. If I was trying to make them last a little bit then I wouldn't have washed them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vanessa, glad I came back to check for replies :o) I already made plans to go back again this weekend (maybe tomorrow :o) We like Cobblers and pies and the few I have aren't gong to be enough for winter too :o)
