Harvest

It's another good week for herbs.  This will probably be my last large bunch of chive blossoms and I am going to give a whirl to making chive blossom vinegar since this time of year I hear everyone talking about it.  I don't really need any sage right now but it was starting to encroach on the dill which isn't tall enough yet to not be shaded by the sage.  The garlic has started to send out scapes and they have started to curl so I went ahead and harvested them.

  1. I can't wait for garlic scapes!!! I just picked some of my chive blossoms too, to make vinegar. It is always bittersweet because they are so pretty out on the chives!

  4. I have never used chive blossoms. My onion chives haven't done well yet, but I have garlic chives that have been growing for years and they bloom, too. White, though, not pretty purple. I've got to figure out what I can do with them!

Will you dry your sage or compost it?

    1. I have put it in the fridge and will keep it there until it turns brown or I use it up.
