In order to turn over the old garden and work in the compost I had to harvest all of the over wintered cilantro. I will definitely be finding ways to use it all up this week.
I really miss cilantro right now. In my old garden it grew wild and self sowed everywhere. I always had cilantro. This year I'm starting it from seed again. I'm using a slow bolter this time. The last one was just a regular one. I'm hoping for longer harvests, but still getting coriander by the fall.
I started the cilantro from seed in the Fall using a slow bolt variety hoping for a Fall crop. However with how hot our Fall was it was slow to germinate and it hadn't grown much before it got too cold. I covered it with a light weight row cover just to see how it would fare over the Winter. I was impressed with how well it did. Starting this weekend I am going to be succession planting the same seeds and will see how far into the summer the slow bolt variety actually lasts.
That's a nice crop of cilantro! I always struggle with that plant because they always want to bolt on me.
