My other seed order that I have been waiting on finally arrived just under the gun. It looks like I am going to have a planting weekend! I also stopped by my local garden center to pick up onion sets, asparagus crowns/roots and garlic bulbs to plant this weekend.
I also got the dial seed sower that you see in the picture. I am hoping it will help me plant carrot seeds more efficiently this year.
I can't wait to see when all your plants start to grow!
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly does a seed dialer do?
Really small seeds like carrots and lettuce are really hard to accurately sow. You end up often using too much seed and have to tediously thin out the plants and end up wasting seed. With the dialer you put the seeds in the middle container. You turn it to the correct size hole based on your seed size. There are 6 or 7 sized holes and the idea is that it lets seeds out 1 at a time which allows you to space them out properly. This removes the need to thin and you only use the seed you need. Hope that makes sense.
